My Approach:

I have extensive experience and training in supporting children and teenagers who have experienced traumatic events. I am specifically trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), which is an evidence-based, structured method of trauma processing that is effective for children and teenagers who experience distress, feelings of guilt, and other mental health symptoms as a result of traumatic experiences.

TF-CBT starts with teaching clients regulation and stress management skills to use when feeling overwhelmed. Next, clients create their own version of a trauma narrative. Then, I support clients in challenging unhelpful beliefs related to the trauma. An important component is caregiver involvement when feasible. I will meet with caregivers separately and together with the client. The goal of caregiver involvement is helping caregivers feel confident supporting the client. After completing TF-CBT, clients can continue to engage in individual psychotherapy if indicated.

Regardless of your needs, my approach is individualized, integrative, and relational. We will work together to determine what is most supportive to you and your unique needs, and I will start with just getting to know you.
